I have been an avid user of Current TV's website and also their cable network. I had never been exposed to any community-based media like its kind before, but I am hooked now. Mainstream media has become so molded that I find myself either calling bullshit on the news coverage, or at least sitting there thinking, "Ok....that was a decent news story....but it was damn boring, and I know there is either more to the story, or there could be another story that you could cover that would make me actually feel like turning on that station again!"
ReplyDeleteI like Current because it is a diverse, truly democratic, and innovative way to inform people what is going on in this world. I would much rather hear stories from someone who was effected enough by the story to make a film on it instead of some nervous mainstream news employee covering whatever is neccessary to keep that job.
Current TV also has a google search program that every so often displays the top 10 or so things that have been searched on google that hour. I think that is a sweet method of getting people to take an initiative to see what is going on in our world today.
